HayArt Festival

A quirky village tradition in the picturesque village of Abtenau that celebrates the end of harvest. Larger than life hay figures are taken through the streets of beautifully decorated floats pulled by Norican horses and vintage tractors. In the weeks leading up to the event artists and locals spend time constructing the great hay figures on to wooden frames that can reach up to four metres high. The figures can vary from lions to lederhosen, and at the end of the processions the figures are judged with prizes given to the best.
