Whether you’re in the city or the countryside, there are some fantastic tourist spots where you can see history and nature come together. Austria has some superb attractions whichever region you’re visiting; popular sites include the Rolls Royce Museum or the Swarovski Crystal Worlds. If you’re interested in seeing historical sites, try Innsbruck’s Schloss Ambras; a spectacular renaissance palace built above the city with the largest collection of armour in Europe. It also holds a vast and famous art collection, including works from the likes of Lukas Cranach, van Dyck and Diego Velásquez.

There are equally some beautiful churches dotted around the countryside that make an excellent and cultured day out. Austria is one of those countries where nature and history often seem to collide; with salt mines and ice caves, an iron mountain, and the beautiful underground lake at Seegrotte, you won’t have to look too far to find a natural phenomenon. If you are after a sightseeing holiday in the cities you can choose between Vienna’s stunning gothic architecture, or Salzburg’s cobbled streets and mesmerising statues.
