Barbados is host to some spectacular sporting events every year. Cricket is the sport of the Bajans and the Bridgetown Cricket Ground hosts some great International games. Barbados is also known for its great surf and because of this it hosts the popular Reef Bowl International Surfing Classic every November. This draws in to p class surfers from around the world and it’s a great event to go along to.
If hockey is your game then head over to Barbados in August for the annual Banks International Hockey Festival. It is described as the largest single annual field hockey tournament in the hemisphere and with the quality astroturf at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex there is a world-class playing surface. This occasion brings players from all over the world. Barbados is also renowned for its superb golf courses and in 2006 hosted the World Championships.
Horse riding is also a popular sport on the island with dressage and jumping highly competed for. Events take place at different times of the year.
