The vast majority of self catering villas in Barbados are in St. James which is the central area of the west coast as the beaches here are made up of beautiful soft, white sands where the calm, clear waters are perfect for swimming. This is a great area to stay as it’s not too far to the busy southern areas of St. Lawrence Gap and Bridgetown. A self catering villa is a great idea for a holiday in Barbados as many come with their own private pools and the interiors are well furnished. Luxury villas offer a private island holiday option but you can still get involved in Bajan culture by using the local food markets and fish markets. Privately owned holiday homes will be far less expensive than those owned by private holiday companies so be aware of this if you are holidaying to a budget.
