There is no shortage of places to walk in Barcelona. The city houses 68 municipal parks, divided into 12 historic parks, 5 thematic (botanical) parks, 45 urban parks and 6 forest parks. Parc Guell is one of the most popular and is filled with typical, extravagant Gaudi tiling and an enormous, curved, tiled bench. For the more serious hikers, there are numerous trails around the city, including the natural park of Montserrat. Upon reaching the highest point on the mountain at St. Jerome 1,236 metres (4,055 feet), there is a beautiful uninterrupted 360 degree view of the park stretching from the coast to the Pyrenees.
