Beating of the Retreat

The Beating of the Retreat procession stems back to the 17th century when the soldiers stationed on the island were called back to the garrisons at nightfall. Nowadays the ceremony is performed by the Bermuda Regiments’ military band and drum corps. The Beating of the Retreat is held in Hamilton, St George and at the Royal Naval Dockyards.
