If you are gay and looking for a romantic destination to holiday with your partner or are single and looking for some gay nightlife you may be disappointed by Bermuda. While being gay is no longer illegal in Bermuda (the UK forced it to change its legislation in the 90s) it is still frowned on. So, Bermuda is not a great idea for a gay or lesbian holiday. Of course the Bermudians are too polite to make a fuss if you and your partner share a double room, but the warm welcome may cool. Due to its proximity to the East Coast of the US some American gays and lesbians do vacation in Bermuda, but the island does not have much of a gay scene.
