Botswana is not famous for its culinary highlights, but while you’re on holiday in Botswana, do try some of the local dishes. Game, such as Impala, will be served in many safari camps and lodges. Most traditional meals include mabele or bogobe (sorghum porridge), or maize porridge, served with meat relish and eaten with the fingers. Marula is a delicious cream liqueur made from the fruit of the marula tree, which is popular with elephants, which are said to get drunk on the fermented fruit!
