From January to December

There is no shortage of places to spot whales in British Columbia. Head to the coast for an up close whale sighting of Orcas, Gray whales, and Humpback whales. Popular spots to whale watch in BC and book a whale watching tour are the Gulf Islands, Naniamo, Port Hardy, Tofino, Victoria, Vancouver, Prince Rupert, Queen Charlotte Islands and Knight Inlet. If you’re in BC during March and April you can see the Pacific Gray Whales migrating north along the west coast. Over 20 000 whales make the migration, however, around 40 or 50 will stay the summer feeding off Vancouver Island. Minke whales, Pacific White-sided dolphins, Harbour porpoises, Dall’s porpoises, Harbour seals and Steller’s sea lions are also viewed in the waters around Vancouver Island.
