Scuba Diving in Bulgaria

There are several operators offering scuba diving in Bulgaria, located in the main resorts on the Black Sea coast such as Albena, and Sunny Beach. The warm waters of the Black Sea are rich in marine life and there are reefs to explore just 30m from the shoreline in the mega resort of Golden Sands. There are also some World War II shipwrecks off Kaliakra Cape to the north, and Sozopol to the south, and diving companies located in the resorts run trips up and down Bulgaria’s coastline. Although few tourists come expressly for scuba diving in Bulgaria, there’s enough to interest both professionals and amateurs, and a variety of courses are available if you’re an absolute beginner. A four-day open water course, with PADI-certified instructors, will cost about 250 Euros.
