Fishing in Cairns, Australia

The far north of Queensland is a fantastic place for fishing. Not only does this part of the world enjoy beautiful warm weather most of the year, but the tropical waters are brimming with exotic sea life. Recreational fishing is a major pastime in the area, and there are plenty of different types of fish waiting to bite the bait. These include Barramundi (the most sought after catch, but must be released back into the wild between midday 1st of November to midday on the 1st of February), Barracuda, and Coral Trout. It doesn’t just have to be sea fishing; reef, estuary, freshwater, and beach fishing are also on offer, a great variety for the keen angler.
