Cairo is not renowned for being a party city and is not the best place to go on a party holiday. Though there are plenty of things to see and do for the single traveller, finding a companion may prove more difficult. There are bars and clubs with live music performances, but these are most techno, jazz or Arabic music and belly dancing. If you want the traditional western disco you will need to go to a 5 star hotel, and even then they have belly dancing as part as the cabaret. A night club in Cairo generally means a sit down meal where you sit and watch entertainment, though in the hotels you can dance. Having said that, Cairo is an exciting place to explore at night and the cultural difference is interesting, though it can also be an expensive experience as most alcoholic drinks are imported and thus more costly.
