Hiking / Walking in Cairo, Egypt

There are many things to see and do in Cairo, but the gruelling heat of the sun and miles of barren terrain don't make it the best destination for walking or hiking. Many of the popular tourist attractions however, such as the Pyramids and Valley of the Kings are vast areas should you want to explore further and go on a trekking expedition. There are vast lands of desert around Cairo though and straying to far into the wilderness could be dangerous as there are not many routes specifically designed for hiking.
