Colombia has some of the best sailing trails in the world. Tour companies organize sailing tours, or independent travelers can charter boats and go out sailing, if they have prior experience. The coastline of the country offers excellent sailing in Colombia. Cartagena is the most popular island for sailing in Colombia, though most other islands provide sailing opportunities. Apart from ocean or sea sailing, there is inland lake sailing as well. For lake sailing head to Club Nautico El Portillo in Tomine, just north of Bogotá. Sailing also takes place on the man made lakes of Lago Calima near Cali, and the lakes surrounding El Penol near Medellin.
