Torremolinos & the Costa del Sol have long attracted the rich, the famous and the infamous. Since the early 1960's Torremolinos & the Costa del Sol have attracted a loyal gay and gay friendly following with warm sunshine, attractive beaches and relaxed lifestyle. Originally its visitors included artists, singers and writers, establishing the Costa del Sol as a Mecca for creative and artistic types and by the 1970's gay life was well established here and the number of bars and restaurants expanded rapidly.

In recent years extensive revamping and landscaping have significantly improved the area, with new clubs, bars & restaurants opening, restoring Torremolinos to its rightful status as a major gay holiday destination in Spain.
