Cycling / Mountain Biking in Costa Del Sol, Spain

In Andalucia there is ample mountain biking to be enjoyed in the nearby countryside and mountains, in the comfort of the world's best climate - it's warm and sunny for over 300 days each year. Just behind the coast there is some fantastic riding for all levels of ability, with hard-to-find flowing singletrack and technical sections. Some leave right from your doorstep, some a short distance away using conveniently located minibuses. There are fleets of rental bikes available all across the region in every town and village or alternatively, you can simply bring your own. Alongside more punishing rides near El Chorro and the rugged inland terrain, there are also have plenty of easier routes for the less confident rider including Via Verde near Ronda, a two day biking for those who prefer their excursions to take place along flatter landscapes. On most trips there will be an opportunity for a lunch break in one of the local Ventas (Country Inns), on other trips packed lunches are taken instead.

Cyclists are also recommended to visit the wonderful seafront near the lively town of Fuengirola. This makes it possible to enjoy the contrast of the isolation and beauty of the mountains during the day with the varied nightlife of this cosmopolitan town in the evening. There are literally hundreds of fantastic cycle areas to choose from and, as long as you stay away from the dangerous main roads, are sure to find many hours of great cycling in the Costa Del Sol.
