The Costa Del Sol is a fantastic destination for a sailing holiday. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced sailor, there are several fine opportunities to sail all along the Costa Del Sol. Beginners can learn to sail dinghies in the enchanting surroundings of the main beaches, near Malaga and Marbella as well as further afield in Torremolinos or Benalmadena, whilst experienced sailors can explore the Costa Del Sol’s fabulous man-made lake and drink in all the fantastic scenery. Organised tours also allow you to experience the thrill of real sailing and are freely available from Nerja, Fuengirola and Gibraltar. Sailing holidays in the Costa Del Sol are available all year round and the prices vary depending on the time of year and the length of time you wish to sail. So while there are not a huge amount of sailing locations in the Costa Del Sol, those available are close to the main city centres, well serviced with many competitively-priced sailing companies and are very safe. The Costa del Sol has a wealth of yacht marinas and harbours, many with over 1,000 berths (including Benalmádena and Puerto Banus). The latter, located just beyond Marbella is Spain's answer to St. Tropez where some of the most spectacular gin palaces and luxury yachts are moored. There are numerous sailing clubs located at the Costa del Sol's larger harbours, all of which offer tuition and classes. Both crewed and uncrewed yachts can be rented, although you need a skipper's certificate or a helmsman's overseas certificate to rent an uncrewed yacht.
