The Flood festival in Cyprus, or Kataklysmos, is a traditional event celebrating the biblical flood of Noah and Deukalion from Greek Mythology. The event is in celebration of a new birth of life following events that destroyed the earth and has a significant water theme. There are swimming and diving contests, boat races and canoe races as well as folk dances, singing and poetry.
