Surfing in the Dominican Republic is an exceptionally popular choice for surfers from across the world. The swells at Playa del Macao is legendary, and even offer up some great tube opportunities. Surf schools are common in coastal towns and English is spoken by most instructors, many of whom are ex-pats themselves. Surf boards can be hired easily and are inexpensive.
