Dine a la Dubai
You will find a wide choice of cheap restaurants in Dubai mostly in the old traditional parts of Bur Dubai, Deira, Satwa and Jumeirah. A walking tour of these parts will reward you with many gastronomic finds. Excuse the plastic flowers and slightly tacky décor because what you get is generally delicious basic food at very cheap prices. Dine with the locals at pavement cafes, try smoking the shisha, sometimes called a hubble bubble, look out for cafes selling the most delicious take away food, lamb or chicken shwarmas, falafel, spit chicken wrapped in clay oven bread washed down with a fruit cocktail. There is one local restaurant which deserves a particular mention, Ravi’s in Satwa has assumed iconic status amongst the local expats. Renowned for its spicy lamb and chicken currys.

Favourite Café
