Faro and the Algarve are not top wine tasting destinations in Portugal, though Faro is not far from the Alentejo region which is famous for its wine. So Faro can be a viable destination if you want to combine a beach or golfing holiday with some wine tasting. The majority of Portugal’s famous wines come from plac-es in the north of the country such as Porto and the central Dão region, but are of course available in Faro. Quite close to Faro you can find wine tasting options such as Adega Algarvia, on the road from Al-mancil to Vale do Lobo and Quinta dos Vales, a beautiful holiday wine and fruit farm with country house accommodation.
