Holiday makers in search of winter sun can find it in Faro. The Algarve region averages 3000 hours of sun-shine per year and compared to most of Europe, is often pleasantly warm and bright during the winter months. Some even brave the winter waters and go for a swim on Faro’s beach during the winter. Though there is of course more sun during the high season of June to September, the rainfall is still relatively low from December through February, at an average of 6 or 7 cm. During March that number falls to 3.5 cm, making March a great month for a winter sun holiday in Faro. Also keep in mind that prices are also con-siderably lower in Faro during the winter, as little as half of peak season rates.
