Food and Drink in Faro, Portugal

Rating (9/10)

star star star star star star star star star star
From March to February

The local economy around Faro was based on fishing and agriculture before the tourism boom, so expect great seafood and local produce. Though not as cosmopolitan or as developed as Lisbon, Faro’s interna-tional status and residents have brought an influx of cuisine from different parts of the world, including Indian, Italian, French and British. Despite this, local Portuguese food, especially seafood, still rules and is usually of very good quality. Drinks in Faro include a range of Portuguese wines, particularly those from the nearby Alentejo region, as well as popular Brazilian cocktails and of course beer. Sagres is a decent regional beer which is very popular. For non-alcoholic drinks, fresh orange juice (as little as 1€) and a range of coffees (0.50-1€) are highly recommended and refreshingly inexpensive.
