Sailing is popular on the Algarve coast and there is a nice marina in Faro. Chartered yachts and other boats can be hired in various locations for sailing around Faro, Olhão and the beautiful Ria Formosa. Faro Sailing school, which offers lessons and accommodation on their yachts, is actually located in Ayamonte, Spain, a 45 minute journey by car or bus from Faro Airport. For spectators, Vilamoura (a few km up the coast from Faro) hosts the annual Algarve International Sailing Tournament in February.
