Surfing in Faro, Portugal

Faro’s surfing is not as touted as that of other surf spots in the Algarve, such as Sagres, Carrapeteira or Lagos, but Praia de Faro offers consistent small wave surfing close to the city, with more swell during the winter and some good breaks. Faro’s waves are smaller than the west coast of Portugal and the water is calmer especially during the summer, when the beaches are much more crowded anyway.
