Geography of Florence, Italy

Florence is in the heart of Italy's Tuscany Region in western Italy, along the Arno River, which runs from the mountains to the west of the city into the Ligurian Sea off the east coast of Italy. It is 172 miles north of Rome and 185 miles south of Milan. Florence is an inland city on the Italian Peninsula and is surrounded by the Chianti mountains to the south and the Apennines to the north.
