Frankfurt Marathon

The Frankfurt Marathon takes competitors through the city centre streets lined with thousands of spectators.

First held in 1981, this is the oldest marathon in Germany. Starting from Frankfurt Trade Centre and finishing in Hohenstaufenstrasse, the race comprises different classifications with cash prizes for class winners.

Besides the serious runners, amateurs also take part - many in fancy dress to raise money for charities. The event has a carnival spirit with around 100 parties taking place alongside the course and bands playing.
