From April to October

The closest of all the Balearic islands to mainland Spain, Ibiza offers 200 km (125 miles) of coastline, with over 60 breathtaking beaches, and if you fancy doing a bit of island-hopping Formentera is easily reached by boat trip. One of the greatest benefits of a beach holiday in Ibiza is that you can select the perfect beach for each day you are there and if you feel like taking in new scenery another beach is no more than half an hour away, even if it's on the other side of the island.

Beach holidays to Ibiza are what relaxation is all about and most of the quieter ones can be found in the north of the island, such as Cala Den Serra, a stunning little cove which is well kept by local people and is known for its snorkelling, like many of the beaches in Ibiza. Cala Vadella, in the south, is a gorgeous sandy bay, with completely calm and crystal clear waters, where multi-coloured fish can be spotted swimming to and fro. This beach is ideal for diving and hiring jet skis and there are both classy and more casual eateries nearby, serving fresh and tasty dishes. Most of the beaches in Ibiza offer sunbeds and umbrellas starting at 7 euros but when visiting the smaller coves it is best to take your own umbrella with you should you require shade. Playa Den Bossa is the longest beach on Ibiza and as the sun goes down after a day of swimming and topping up your tan you can enjoy an evening in one of the 50 bars or restaurants edging the sands.

When booking a beach holiday to Ibiza it is really up to you to decide what kind of ambience you are looking for and then go from there.
