Nightlife in Jamaica, Caribbean

From January to December

Nightlife in Jamaica comes in all shapes and sizes, from the plush, elaborate clubs of Kingston and Montego Bay, to the open air beach clubs, and local sound clashes happening each weekend across the island. Montego Bay’s Margaritaville is a sports and café by day, but transforms into a water-themed extravaganza come night, with its water slide, floating lilos and Jacuzzis; while Amnesia, in Ocho Rios offers as wild as a time as you want. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, this features an open-air patio, two dancefloors and the cream of the island’s best DJs. Over in Kingston, Asylum is the place to be for the locals. This venue is often so popular, traffic backs up around the block with people eager to get inside. One of the most exclusive clubs in Kingston, however, is Quad, which boasts multi-levels.
In Negril, things can get really heated in clubs like Hedonism and The Jungle, which fully live up to the area’s reputation. If you fancy partying like the locals and find yourself in one of the smaller areas of the island, there is nearly always likely to be a party going on in the vicinity: you won’t have to pay a cover charge and the atmosphere is always electric. Bear in mind, however, it isn’t for the fainthearted, especially when it comes some of the dance moves, so be warned. Jamaican nightclubs usually do have cover charges, so you should expect to pay between €7-€11; unless you’re female and it’s ladies night, in which case you won’t have to pay anything.
