By far the best spot for scuba diving in Japan off Okinawa island. A 2-3 hours flight south from the main islands takes you to a tropical paradise of warm, crystal clear waters with myriad fish among stunning coral reefs. Other scuba diving hotspots in Japan include Izu Peninsula and Izu Islands and the Ogaswara Islands. The icy waters around Hokkaido also offer great opportunities for ice-diving.
