From January to December

Japan's unique culture, with a combination of ultra modern hi-technology and ancient history makes it a fabulous destination for a sightseeing holiday. There are literally hundreds of ancient shrines and temples dotted throughout the country as well as many castles, palaces and parks. Sightseeing trips in Japan would not be complete either without exploring the neon lit areas of Japan's major cities. Outside of these ultra-modern metropolises a contrasted to the hustle and bustle of crowded city life is met with beautiful and serene countryside, filled with meadows and mountains. Kyoto in particular offers much for the sightseer in Japan, owing to it being spared the destruction that many other Japanese cities suffered during the Second World War, Kyoto is one of a few places to retain much of its traditional cultural heritage.

There are literally hundreds of temples, monuments and shrines scattered throughout the city, as well as many palaces, gardens and parks. There are also 17 UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kyoto, a figure outdone only by Rome. The best way to discover Kyoto is by strolling the old streets and alleyways. It is off the beaten track that the best treasures are found on a sightseeing trip in Kyoto. Other cities that are worth mentioning are Hiroshima, which has many peace marks and memorials to those that died during the war, Mt Fuji and the northern island of Hokkaido are also good destinations for some sightseeing in Japan.
