Western style hotels in Japan are common and can be found in most cities. There are many international and Japanese hotel chains operating throughout the country. Costs are per person per night and range from around ¥4,000 for cheap, budget hotels, up to ¥50,000 for first class accommodation. Business hotels are cheap, budget style hotels targeted mainly at business travellers and located in city centres, especially around train stations. Rooms are in a Western style and prices range from $4,000 - ¥ 10,000 per person. However, English is not always spoken and there is generally no room service. Mid-range and deluxe hotels in Japan are priced from 10,000 and you can expect a similar services as you would in most western countries. For a more Japanese style experience, there are literally thousands of Ryokan scattered across the country. Costing about the same as an equivalent hotel, ryokan are traditional inns where you can experience a traditional Japanese atmosphere. Breakfast and dinner are usually included in the prices and much emphasis is placed on the quality of the food.
