Shopping in Lanzarote can be great fun, especially when visiting the large market in the old capital of Teguise every Sunday morning between 8:30am and 2pm. Here you will find a wide variety of items to buy, such as hand-made table-cloths, jewellery, paintings, African wood carvings, local wines and even fake watches and handbags. Always remember to haggle as the first price given can be a little high sometimes and people will expect you to try for a bargain.

Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary Islands enjoy a special duty free tax status, so items like cigarettes, alcohol and perfume are much cheaper than in mainland Spain and the rest of the EU. When shopping on Lanzarote, these duty free goods are much cheaper in the resorts and towns than in the Airport and on-board the airplane.
