Being in the desert gives you plenty of sand but what about the cool, calming waves normally associated with a beach holiday. Well, amazingly Las Vegas could still be your destination if you don’t mind that your beach holiday revolves around a man-made one. Both Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and Green Valley Ranch Resort & Casino highlight long stretches of sandy beach pools where actual waves wash ashore while attendants offer cool drinks and dry towels. The wave pool at the Mandalay Bay is even strong enough for body surfing. In the summer months, you are guaranteed a live concert series playing on the weekends as well as “cinema nights” where families can watch movies on the beach. Although the nearest ocean is 5 hours away, you can still sit back on your Vegas beach holiday with your favourite cocktail while listening to the tide ebb and flow or dive in and ride a couple of waves, jellyfish not included.
