Useful Information

- Las Vegas is known for the ever-present “eye in the sky” security cameras as casino security is the best in the world – even still, pickpockets and con artists are looking to make a quick buck, so keep your wallet and valuables secure at all times.
- Don’t let the games or gambling tables intimidate you from having fun. Casino staff and especially the dealers at tables are happy to teach you how to play and how to follow gaming rules. It is still helpful to read up on the game that most interests you – like blackjack or poker.
- Casinos want to keep you very happy playing at their tables. If you’re playing with a significant amount of money, be sure to take advantage of complimentary dining and show tickets!
- Although casual attire is the way to go while you’re sightseeing, restaurants and nightclubs in Las Vegas operate by a strict dress code. Be sure to check your wardrobe before you go.
- Minor children are not allowed on the casino floor so be sure to walk in designated areas.
- Wear your walking shoes! You’ll need them sightseeing up and down The Strip. And keep plenty of water with you during the hotter months; you don’t want to get dehydrated.
- Hotels will stock your mini-bar and refrigerator in your room but at a hefty price tag. I recommend finding a grocery store to purchase some snacks for your room. The hotel concierge can direct you to a nearby convenience store or drugstore that sells groceries.
- Tips and service charges are not added in to the bill unless you are a party of 8 or more so be sure to figure the appropriate tip when paying for services. Las Vegas is a very “tip-driven” town so it’s best to get a tip guide from either online or from your concierge to avoid any issues.
