The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race

Each year, from 1829 to the present day, rowing teams from each of England's oldest universities pit their skills and stamina against each other on the River Thames in a race that starts at Putney and travels west upstream to Chiswick Bridge. As happens every year, the loser of this year's race must challenge the winner to a re-match the following year. Join in the festive atmosphere on the banks of the Thames between Putney and Mortlake and enjoy one of London's great traditions. The race starts at 5.15pm and is free to watch.
