Mountain Climbing in Tahiti, French Polynesia

Tahiti is centred on two mountains, so it is the perfect place for some mountain climbing. The two mountains, one on each section of the island are called Mt. Orehena and Mt. Pitohiti, and once you have completed your mountainous climb you will be rewarded with a spectacular view from both peaks. For more strenuous mountain climbing it is advised to go with a group and a guide for safety purposes, or at least have a map of the particular trail you are taking. Bring lots of water with you, and set off early in the morning to avoid the punishing midday heat. Mountain climbing is a fantastic way to tour this idyllic island.
