Bed & breakfasts in Jamaica are everywhere, even if they are not immediately obvious (some great bed & breakfasts in Jamaica can be found nestling discretely in side streets), but they can provide a cost-effective way of seeing the island. The standard of bed & breakfasts in Jamaica can vary, from the basic, no-frills type which barely offers air conditioning, to something more luxurious. Bed & breakfasts in Jamaica will vary in terms of price, depending on location and season, but expect to pay anywhere between €20 - €35 per night. The more rural areas will be slightly cheaper. Hotels in Jamaica
Whatever your taste, family size or budget, there are hotels in Jamaica to suit just about everyone, whether it’s the glamour Goldeneye (James Bond creator, Ian Flemming’s former home), which costs approximately €718 per night for a double room, to smaller counterparts which pride themselves on rustic charm and cultural/historic heritage. The hotel rating system is the same for Jamaican hotels as it is in most places; so if a hotel is one star, or less, it will only offer the most basic accommodation. The majority of hotels in Jamaica, however, offer fairly-priced, reasonable hotel accommodation which can start at as little as €38, up to €151. All-inclusives tend to offer the easiest option for the ultimate beach holiday: pay beforehand and you don’t have to worry about meals, drinks, or tipping during your stay. The downside of these holidays is that you rarely get a glimpse of the real Jamaica and you could, in fact, be practically anywhere in the world. Prices range from around €1,710 to €3,332 and beyond.

Hostels in Jamaica
Many hostels in Jamaica are actually budget hotels, or cheap guesthouses which people casually call hostels, but there aren’t that many actual hostels in Jamaica. The privately owned Whitfield Hall is an old colonial building half way up Blue Mountain and costs €15 per night. Other extras include the €31 charge for transport to and from Kingston, meals (if required) and firewood. There is also Clydesdale hostel, situated at 3,7oo feet up Blue Mountain which was originally an old coffee plantation.

Resorts in Jamaica
You can pretty much find a resort in Jamaica wherever you choose to look; again, it is dependent on location, season and budget. There are resorts for singles looking for fun, family resorts, honeymooners, and just about anyone else – there will nearly always be a resort which caters to you specifically. One type of resort which is popular in Jamaica is the all-inclusive: for a flat fee (anywhere between €529 - €1,133), your room, food and tips will nearly always be included). All-inclusives sound like a lot of money, but given what they include, they can be quite cost-effective, and with deals like ‘Mums Stay Free’ even families on a budget can consider this option. All-inclusives are, admittedly hassle-free but on the downside, because everything is included, there is little need to venture out and, in many cases, you could be anywhere that is hot and sunny. If you want to experience a resort but don’t fancy doing it for a two-week stint, day (or night) passes are available. For around €38 (or more, depending on the resort you will gain access to all the resort’s facilities.

Jamaican style cottages are everywhere on the island, and can range anywhere between €45 for a two-bedroom cottage off-peak, to €98 a night during peak season.
