To and From – Fuerteventura Airport

Fuerteventura Airport, is Spain's tenth largest airport and well connected to the rest of Europe. Some airlines that fly here include Ryanair, Thomas Cook, Air Berlin and Air Europa. Fuerteventura airport is situated just outside the islands capital of Puerto del Rosario. An airport bus links passengers with Caleta de Fuste, Puerto del Rosario and Morro Jable (via Costa Calma). If you need other connecting buses these can be found in Puerto del Rosario. Taxis and private car hire are good options.

Taxis from Fuerteventura Airport

Taxis in Fuerteventura can be found at the taxi rank, although there are often long queues, there are plenty of taxis coming and going frequently. In general taxis are cheap but they cannot be odered in advance. Typicallly a taxi from Fuerteventura Airport to Costa Calma will cost €66, to Corralejo €40, and to Costa Caleta or Costa Antigua just €10.
 

Fuerteventura By Bus

Public transport is both an efficient and cheap method for getting around Fuerteventura. Buses run regularly and frequently. A bus in the Canaries is called a "guagua" (pronounced: waa-waa).
Local buses in Fuerteventura are run by Tiadhe, which connect most of the villages throughout the island.
There are some sixteen different bus routes on the island. It takes about 20 minutes to travel by bus from Caleta de Fuste to Puerto del Rosario, and the travel time from Puerto del Rosario to Corralejo is around 40 minutes.

Car hire firms that have offices in Fuerteventura airport, and it best to book in advance. Car hire is generally cheap on the island and there are several companies to choose from. You have to be over 25 years of age, and possess a full license. The roads on Fuerteventura are in good condition, but as traffic lights and roundabouts are a new introduction, be on guard of Spanish drivers. You might not also be permitted to take the car to other islands so best to check ahead.

Cycling in Fuerteventura


Cycling in Fuerteventura is a great way to experience the island. There is an abundance of cycling lanes and trails to be explored ranging from easy to more challenging. For a challenging, spectacular mountainous cycling route, try the Pajara-Betancuria road. Fuerteventura by Ferry

Ferries connect all the Canary Islands and passenger liners regularly dock in Fuerteventura's main ferry port and capital city Puerto del Rosario. Fuerteventura is connected to Lanzarote from Corralejo in the North, which is served by regular daily ferries. Several pleasure cruises also sail between the two islands from Corralejo, either docking at Playa Blanca in the south, Puerto del Carmen, or Arrecife, Lanzarote's capital. Corralejo also has daily ferries to Isla de Lobos which is just 2km away and ideal for day trips. There is a now a new service travelling from Puerto del Rosario to Morocco.
