Azores: Food Guide - Dining Out
Europe's Best Kept Secret
Food in the Azores is similar to that of the rest of Portugal, but also has its own regional varieties, often distinct to the particular islands. Dining out does not offer too much variety, but the quality of the food is generally good. Portions tend to be very large and prices range from inexpensive to high midrange. Angra, Ponta Delgada and Horta are the towns with the most restaurants. Restaurants in the Azores are recommended for fresh fish and it is advisable to ask around and seek out “hidden” gems on the side streets of the towns when dining out.
