Beirut Canoeing

Whilst it’s not possible to go canoeing in Beirut itself, you will find several companies based in Beirut that organise canoeing, rafting and kayaking trips on rivers in the Hermel region of Lebanon. The Nahr Al Kalb is the closest river to Beirut for canoeing, and has shallow water and usually smooth rides for canoeists. If you’re after a bit more adventure, you could try kayaking on the Litani River, roughly one and a half hours south of Beirut. The Litani is known for its rapids and white-water rafting, but it’s possible to canoe and kayak on the river from mid-May. For a guided trip on the Litani, including an overnight stay, expect to pay around €60.
