A Country of Superb Variations

Bulgaria Geography

Bulgaria is a small country located in the Balkan peninsula of south-eastern Europe. There are seven mountain ranges across the country, and around a third of Bulgaria is mountainous terrain, often heavily forested. The 550km-long Balkan range runs through the centre of the country almost as far as the Black Sea, and acts as a climactic barrier, with a warmer climate to the south.. Bulgaria’s 378km-long coastline is lined with numerous beaches and dramatic cliffs, while Bulgaria’s northern border, with Romania, is largely delineated by the River Danube.
