Canary Islands: Fishing

More than simply Sun, Sea and Sand

The Canary Islands are surrounded by the rich waters of the Atlantic Ocean, so they are a fishermans paradise all year round. Canary Islands fishing is famous for the blue marlin that populate the waters around the islands. The marlin in the Canary Islands reach a bigger size here than they do anywhere else in the world, and can be anything from 550 to 1100 pounds. Whichever of the Canary Islands you are staying in you are sure to find fishing boats. So why not join in the fishermen hoping to reel in marlin, tuna, shark, rays, billfish or sailfish. For the particularly adventurous fisher, some boats also offer shark fishing searching for hammerheads, blue and mako sharks, or perhaps you will be tempted to go night fishing in the Canary Islands.
