Cannes: Geography

Pearl of the French Riviera

Cannes Geography

The Côte d'Azur, often known as the French Riviera, is the Mediterranean coastline of the south eastern corner of France, extending from Menton near the Italian border in the east to Cassis in the west. Built on low hills overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Cannes is one of the best-known cities of the French Riviera. Nestled on la Napoule Bay, Cannes enjoys palm trees sand beaches. In the West of Cannes, the stunning red rocks of The Esterel, stretching along the sea from La Napoule to Saint-Raphael, enhance the beauty of one of the most spectacular parts of the Mediterranean coast. The Massif de l'Esterel is a part of the Alpes and is of volcanic origin.
