Cannes: When to go
Pearl of the French Riviera
Cannes is an ideal place when it comes to the weather since the temperatures are about 30 °C in summer (July – Sept) and only 12 to 18 °C in winter. Sheltered by the Alps, the coastline of the Cote d'Azur is characterised by hot, dry summers and mild, humid winters with few rainy days, almost no frost and rare snowfall. The sun shines for more than 3,000 hours per year. Nevertheless, there is generally a high percentage of rainfall from March to early May. During the festival, temperatures range between 18 and 23 °C.
Cannes attracts much attention from around the world during its annual International Film Festival in May. The festival draws hundreds of film celebrities and superstars along with the paparazzi and expectant fans hoping to glimpse the rich and famous at the Palais des Festivals.
