Colombia: Disabled Needs
Colombia is not the most preferred destination for disabled people. A holiday for disabled in Colombia is usually restricted to the larger cities since those are the only places which have facilities for disabled people. Smaller towns and cities are not at all equipped to handle disabled travelers. Most of the public buildings in Colombia are equipped with wheelchair ramps but the older buildings do not offer such facilities. Public transport is mostly inaccessible for disabled people. Only a few of the newer buses are disabled friendly. It is advisable to hire a car for your travel. Tour companies offer special packages for disabled people and perhaps it is best to opt for one of these, as everything is taken care of by the tour company.
