The Paris of the North
Copenhagen offers visitors good choices when it comes to seeing the city by canoe or kayak. There are plenty of opportunities to kayak the canals of Copenhagen, which make for a refreshing way to see the city’s sites. Starting at Strandgade near Wilders Plads (Square) you go out accompanied by a professional instructor, who provides historic commentary. Tours can last from one and a half hours up to three hours total. Beginners are welcome. The minimum age is 15. Open May to late September. Paddling down the Mølleåen the small 30 km river, cutting through the northern suburbs of Copenhagen also offers a unique urban escape for canoers, as it is almost entirely through quite forests and parks. Life jackets must be worn. There are also further opportunities to canoe or kayak beyond Copenhagen such as the Roskilde Fjord.
