City of Stone
The nightlife in Florence is lead by the city's foreign students who usually go to study Italian and History of Art. Partying in Florence is a quite a young scene, with students just out of school going on their first trip and enjoying the late licensing hours, as some pubs stay open until 1am or even later. The most bohemian area is the Oltrarno, south of the river, where you can enjoy yourself into the early hours of the morning.
Nightlife in Florence is also centred around Piazza della Signoria, where you will find the more demure and rather laid back venues. Florentines, like most Italians, like to be seen as stylish with a leaning towards smart, conservative dress. So, why not join them; put on your best evening clothes and sip a drink outside one of the city's elegant cafes and enjoy being part of the fashionable throng, while you watch the world go by? There are also so many places to eat in Florence that that you will undoubtedly have a problem deciding on which one to dine in. There are pizza and pasta places everywhere you look, but restaurants serving local dishes such as Florentine steak, tripe stewed with tomatoes and pappa al pomodoro, a thick soup of bread and tomatoes, are are culinary treat.
