Despite its small size, Geneva rivals London, Paris and many other European Cities as a major shopping destination. Geneva specializes in the finer things in life and, while they are not cheap, the selection is staggering and makes for world class window shopping.
Rue du Rhône is the place to be if you like your luxury brands or expensive specialised boutiques. Geneva is paradise if you are a watch lover with brands from Rolex to Swatch but if you are looking for a bargain or something unusual, head towards the Carouge area of Geneva for great crafts, trinkets, and market stalls. Department stores, shopping malls, and familiar high street names are also great for those on a lower budget. Metro Shopping Cornavin is located close to the train station and Manor department store provides six floors and panoramic views of the city.
Shops in Geneva are open six days a week from 9am to 7pm, and are closed on Sundays. Shops accept most debit and credit cards and also cash in Swiss Francs and Euros, though change from Euros will be give in Swiss Francs. Geneva is an excellent place for a shopping holiday in Europe.
