The Peace Capital
Located on the border of Switzerland and France, Geneva is the second largest city in Switzerland and is often mistaken for being the country’s capital (which is actually Zurich). Situated in between the Alps and the Jura mountains, Geneva sports panoramic spectacular alpine views. To top it off Geneva is home to central Europe’s second largest freshwater lake, Lake Geneva, also known as Lac Léman. Because of the size and the location of the lake, it lies across both Switzerland and France and is also divided into the ‘Grand Lac’ and the ‘Petit Lac’. The crescent-shaped lake lies on the path of the Rhone river and is home to the renowned Jet d’Eau fountain which sprays water 140 metres into the sky.
